About Cabela’s
Cabela’s is a sporting goods chain that specializes in outdoor recreation gear. Richard N. Cabela founded Cabela’s in 1961 as a mail order store that allowed shoppers to buy fishing supplies. He bought fishing flies in Chicago and advertised the gear for sale in the local paper. As a way to reach more shoppers, Cabela listed ads in a national magazine, which showed him there was a need for a mail-order fishing supply company. The company became so successful that he brought in both his wife and brother to help keep up with the sales. Cabela’s later grew to include retail stores along with a website. Though its largest store is in Pennsylvania, Cabela’s has a total of 82 shops across North America, and the stores employ more than 19,000 workers. More than half of its annual sales come from shoppers buying hunting supplies and equipment. Shoppers can also buy supplies for camping and ATVs along with fishing and boating gear. Some also know the Cabela’s name for its line of video games that recreate the experiences of recreational activities. Now operating as a subsidiary of Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s sponsors multiple NASCAR drivers and cars.

Annual Sales
Shoppers will find a weekly ad that shows all sales available both online and in Cabela’s stores. In addition to weekly sales, there is a Black Friday sale that runs through Cyber Monday. Shoppers can also find clearance sales at the end of each season.

Cabela’s also offers a text message club for shoppers who don't want to keep checking their emails. They just need to sign up for this club and enter a valid phone number. Cabela’s will then send them promo codes and other deals.

Store Credit Card
With the Cabela’s Club Visa Credit Card, shoppers get $30 in reward certificates as soon as they sign up. They also get 1% cashback on all purchases and 2% cashback on purchases made at Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shop stores. Cabela’s will also price match merchandise sold for less by other companies to shoppers who have a store credit card.

Military Discount
Cabela’s proudly offers a 5% military discount for its shoppers. Anyone who served or currently serves can verify their identity online to get the discount. Cabela’s also allows shoppers to show their military ID in the store to get this discount.

Gun Exchange
Customers who own guns can attend a Cabela’s Gun Library event and sell their weapons. In addition to getting a check or cash, they can exchange certain weapons for Cabela’s gift cards.
